About “1976 Concert Group”
“1976 Concert Group” was established at the end of 2004. They began to give professional musical performance in the form of “Theme Concert” with original ideas. Its unique idea is to interpret musical works based on classical chamber music, and to try to retrieve some classic works from different times and streams. These four musicians usually integrate people’s perceptions of the art, music and emotion in the modern society into their concerts, and present in a naturalistic and humanistic style. The four musicians, with varied personalities and perspectives towards life, live in this era like every other ordinary person, with their own dreams as a scholar, an opera singer, a chamber musician and a freelance artist. It is the wish to present better classical music that brought them together, and eventually they planned and established “1976 Concert Group”.
The name of “1976” came from a joke between the band members and their friends. Three of the four members in this team were born in this year of “culture revolution”, when too many events took place. Our musicians eventually chose this special name for the group, to pay respect to the unique humanistic idealism in the 1970s. Besides giving collaborative performance as a band, these musicians have their own busy careers in the area of music and art, packed with daily work such as concerts, teaching, music production and creative art. In 2005, three instrumental musicians established “Classical DNA Trio”, and devoted themselves to some sincere and practical work to help with the popularization of classical music by presenting a few magnificent chamber concerts for those classical music lovers. These four new generation musicians are pursuing their
beloved music careers, and record the colors and changes in the daily life by using their enthusiasm for music. If classical music is the sacred visualization in their mind, the story of “1976” is the attitude of these four musicians towards life. Within this attitude, there is no so-called boundary of music, and only the true feeling of emotions exists.
The concerts presented by “1976” are always well organized. The four musicians work independently on all the aspects of the concerts, including selecting musical works, rehearsal, introduction writing, graphic design, visual design, and advertising and promoting. The concerts are full of sense of artistic beauty and integrity, which brings some fresh air to the musical performance market in China.
In terms of marketing, “1976 Concert Group” follows the guideline of “Art in the supreme position” to operate, and sophisticatedly relates the taste of art with the feelings of the audience. The charm of “1976” lies in that they are not blindly following any other forms of musical performance in the market where there are now a lot of concerts with poor quality, and instead they are trying to touch the audiences with their sincerity towards the art of music. With the continual presentation of concert works, “1976 Concert Group” has been gaining its popularity among music lovers, medias and different communities.

Zhao Song/Free artist /Cellist
Zhao Song was born in Tianjin in 1976. He started to learn violoncello at the age of six. Shortly he showed his special gift in many competitions held in Tianjin and the nation. Thereafter, he attached the primary school of the Central Conservatory of Music. His erudite attitude towards music and unique artistic style have been gradually developed through the long period of schooling.
He was the doyen of violoncello of ‘China Youth Philharmonic’ from 1996 to 1998. In 1998, with the help of Chinese famous educationalist Guang-ren Zhou and Professor Zhen-shan Wang, he participated in the establishment of ‘piano trio at the forbidden city’. Mr. Guang-ren Zhou and professor Zhen-shan Wang were appointed as art directors. The trio routinely rendered performance in the ‘Weekend Concert’ held by Beijing Concert Hall. Meanwhile, it played an active role in many other public performances.
From 1998 to 2001, he was invited several times to attend the master classes organized by the committee of the Beijing International Music Festival, where he obtained a lot of opportunities to learn from different world famous musicians. Especially he had been instructed by the world famous musicians from Amdesus Quartet, Bartok Quartet, and influential performers such as Charles Neidich, Issac Stern and Mstislav Rostropovich. He has been acclaimed as an ‘exceptional violoncello talent’. In 2000 he joined the ‘Quartet of Central Conservatory of Music’ and engaged in comprehensive activities including artistic exchange, concert performance and music recording. In the same year, he, as a chamber performer of the ‘Quartet of Central Conservatory of Music, was invited to join the ‘Xin De Telecom Concert’ during the third International Music Festival in Beijing. Since many years, he has dedicated himself in music exchange and popularization in dozens of colleges in China. His great passion together with faith in arts expressed by romantic performance is very impressive. Since 2002, he, as the status of a free artist and cellist, has begun to plan concert independently. In 2004, he was invited by the famous musician Tian-wo Yan, and Xiang Li, the professor of the Central Conservatory of Music, to form a small trio group. On behalf of the Central Conservatory of Music, they attended the international master classes held in Cheng Du. He was tutored by the German musicians Jörg-Wolfgang Jahn and Michael Hauber, who highly appraised him. Since 2004, he has participated in the artistic activities held by ‘Beijing Artists Gathering Spot’, where his extemporaneous performances are highly appraised by both domestic and foreign artists and designers.
After XiaoDuo Chen, a coloratura soprano, joined in the trio in the June of 2004, these four neo-musicians have been forming a new and fresh music creation group. The naturalistic classical concerts organized by them have rethrived the stagnant classical music market, and their concerts are widely appraised by those loving music. At the end of 2005, he set up ‘Landscape Chamber String Music Studio’ together with JingYe Zhang, planning to introduce western chamber classical music, new music works produced by youth Chinese musicians and other various kinds of string music to Chinese audiences. In 2005, He participated in the establishment of ‘Classical D.N.A. Trio’ together with his good friends---violinist JingYe Zhang and cellist Zhao Song. The purpose of the trio is to provide an opportunity for young students to appreciate chamber classical music. The birth of the challenging chamber trio has raised young people’s great concerns in the 21st century, when the survival of classical music is extremely endangered.
